Puccini’s Madama Butterfly by North Wales Opera Company

North Wales Opera returns to its Chester ‘home’ to present Puccini’s Madama Butterfly. Anne Williams-King (Director of North Wales Opera) travelled the globe singing the title role in this opera to great acclaim and has directed a beautifully traditional portrayal of this opera. It takes a heart of stone not to be moved by the great tragedy of this story, which is so enriched by the composition. Everyone will have heard the humming chorus and the “Un bel di” (One fine day).

On Thursday 3rd December 2026, Philip and his orchestra will be staging two magical Christmas concerts, at Chester’s Town Hall.
Enjoy a programme of joyous festive music, all performed by a talented group of young professional musicians – and joined by some wonderful special guests.
There will be a 2:30pm matinée, as well as a 7:00pm evening performance.

A Christmas Carol

The original Christmas Carol and the best!
No other show in the country has a direct descendant of Charles Dickens playing the lead role. Gerald Charles Dickens is none other than the great-great-grandson of Charles Dickens.
We all know the characters in A Christmas Carol as they were so beautifully crafted in the book, now you can see them come alive on stage.
Far from just a reading of the story – this is a fully acted performance. Be mesmerised by Mr Dickens as he brings every twist and turn of this of timeless classic filled with wonderful characters to life.
This performance is truly unique and will be the highlight of your Christmas. No “Bah Humbug ” when you leave the theatre after this fabulous show!

This Christmas visit Santa in his grotto in Chester Town Hall for a traditional grotto experience.
Step inside the festive Assembly Hall to meet Santa’s helpful elves, Sparkle & Jingle! They’ve set up their arts and crafts workshop and they can’t wait to meet you! Then get ready to meet the big man himself as you ascend the magical staircase to meet Santa in his enchanting Grotto. You’ll get to have a beautiful photo with Santa and receive a present from him too!

Verd’s Aïda by North Wales Opera Company

North Wales Opera returns to its Chester ‘home’ to present Verdi’s Aïda. Anne Williams-King (Director of North Wales Opera) knows this opera well and has directed a very intimate portrayal of the ancient tragedy. This timeless opera of love, loyalty and spectacle. Like many of its class, this opera can be expressed in a few sentences and knowing the plot will allow you to sit back and allow the drama to unfold.
